Fertilizers? Herbicides? Fungicides?

Our 3 hens enjoy grazing in our backyard all day.

The grass there is very weedy due to the poor quality soil, and I'd like to try to use herbicides and fertilizers to actually turn it into a nice lawn.

If I do that, will it hurt my chickens? And can we eat their eggs?

If your chickens graze back there, I would avoid herbicides.
They will provide the fertilizer for free.

I’ll spread the fertilizer in spring and after a week or two then I’ll let them back out to free range.

So you don't let them get exposed to any. Did you read that it can hurt them?

So you don't let them get exposed to any. Did you read that it can hurt them?

After I spread it I let it rain a few times so the ground/grass is sorta say clean. Otherwise I’m sure it would definitely hurt them.
