Few Newbie Questions

Cool thanks! That's what I got...at least hopefully it's the right stuff. Sprinkled some on the top of their feed and mixed it in a little. Hopefully they'll start eating it. On a side note, the joys living in the mountains, we have a huge forest fire that was slightly under control but is now doubled it's size. It's up to 982 acres now and is only 2-3 miles from our house. I didn't realize it grew so big. I had left and drove down to town (30 min drive) to get some oats and it was behind me the whole time. Noticed it after I was all the way down, had a mini heart attack, got my oats and rushed back up. The houses next to us have been ordered to evacuate. We haven't been told to yet, but they are not too far off. I have compiled all my duck stuff just in case we need to go. Still need to get a few things of mine together and gather up some of the boyfriends stuff (who is also 30 mins away at work). Hopefully we won't need to but won't be the first or the last time we've needed to. Looking outside the window...the wind is blowing it right towards us....lovely.

Here is a pic off the front porch. If you take this image and times it by 5 in a panoramic view...that's the size of the cloud over the house.

We decided to leave early but eventually we did get the call to get out. Brought a few things with me and the ducks made the trip OK. We have another small place in town luckily that we can stay at. We even filled a wheelbarrow with water so they got to float for the first time. They kept acting like torpedos under the water lol.

We hope the house will be ok...fire is about 2-3 miles west of us last I heard and winds are blowing straight for us. Who knows at this point.

Yeah, the High Park Fire is on national news. We still are evacuated and I think we will be for a few weeks. Ducks seem to be doing well. We just found out our neighbors house is leveled. And we aren't confident about ours now.

My prayers and thoughts are with you, your family, and new little duckies. I really hope you all have somewhere to go home to when they finally let you back in.

Fire and tornadoes both can do the strangest things sometimes: Level/destroy several miles of homes and then suddenly skip a few here and there (Have watched tornadoes jump our house and land on our neighbors). I know the firemen will do everything within their power to save the homes they can.

Thank you all. We learned that a second neighbor had their house leveled to and they are even closer to ours. Still don't know and it may still be a week before we know.
