FF- is this mold?

If that's a powdery as it looks in your picks then it's likely just yeast (scoby). I get that on top of my batches too, Esp. if I haven't stirred in a while. I just mix it in it in.

I usually make up two quarts (one day's ration for ten hens) in temperate containers, rotating them so each gets 48 hours to 'cook'. I also backslop; whatever doesn't get poured out in each day's batch gets used a starter for the next.
