That was the day my hubby collected eggs and was so proud of himself for writinh the first initial of the hen that laid them, "L" is for Leto , my Gold Phoenix hen, the "M" is actually a "W" he wrote it upside down, for Wilma ,my Silver Phoenix Hen

YEAHHH DD gets the prize for figuring that out, that is what she said too! COOL, I cannot wait to see what those 2 turn out like. It is fun to see the different types and look them up on the internet to see what the babies should look like.

Phoenix look like Chipmunks when born (color wise anyway) the silvers are generally lighter striped, out of the gold you could get a BBRed, Gold or White, the Whites will not have the chipmunk stripe.
The BBReds are a little darker (slightly) than the golds.

Fudgie hey like the new name

Feb 16th Set day. We set 2 incubators at the Ag building and the rest at my house in the big incubator and some smaller ones. What a lovely batch of eggs. I did not get a good pic of the drawers full in the big incubator but there ya go. I have one drawer open for the eggs still to come. Awesome guys just plain awesome!

Wow....it is looking just awesome!!! It is going to be so exciting when they all start hatching out!!!

That was a great idea about taking the broken eggs for the kids to examine. I am assuming that you will also break and examine any that die during incubation? That is one thing my kids really get into....even though they are always sad over the loss of a chick, they still really enjoy seeing the way the babies look at different stages of development.

Did you ever decide if you were going to offer chicks for sale on here once they hatch? That is really such a cool idea.
