FFA hatching!! Quail are reproducing! WOOT!!!

Well, I candled last night and have quite a few in the incubator/hatcher, I am candling the ffa building eggs tonight and moving to the hatcher.

I have Teach97's courtnix popping like popcorn, don't have a tally but we are saving the eggs we pull out and counting them that way. They are too darned fast any other way.

PS. HINT to get to the eggs easily without comprimising the humidity or temp, remove the plastic window pane from the top of the bator and reach in. 2 things happen because of using this method.
1) you don't loose temp or humidity,
2) you don't loose little speedy courtnix or chickies because they cannot get out!!!

I lost a button quail for about 10 min till I located him below the table (luckily it was a coffee table) and he ran like the dickens. I had to remove all of my supplies from below the table very carefully to find him. You can also put food and water in there so they can get their nourishment without the same losses.

I will update later on tonight after I candle and move all the eggs to the hatchers. I will try to write down names and locations and numbers too. I think I missed some that died after the 1st candling.

Strange update.
Candled the 51 eggs at the FFA building and this is what we had. First off only one was dead looking so that is good. 41 eggs are ready to come out of the turner and rest until hatching day. We removed them last night.

The strange part is 10 of the eggs that were at the FFA building look like they have an extra week left to develop. I am serious! This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. We candled them all before removing the turner. SOOOO we put the 10 that looked like they needed more development time in one of the incubators with the turner still in it and we put the other 41 in the incubator after we removed the turner. I am going to wait and see what happens. Has anyone had this happen with a hatch.

Here is my theory and I am sticking to it.....
IF the center of the incubator did not get enough heat througout the process, they might be delayed. So, thinking about it that way, you know how the incubator heat ring runs down the 1st 2 rows and the last 2 rows and the first 2 and the last 2 eggs in the center rows. If the TRUE center of the incubator did not get enough heat that would add up to the 10 eggs not quite developed. What do you all think. I mean they had great veining and looked like an egg you candled at day 10-12.

By the way one incubator was forced air one was still air. The majority of these came from the still air incubator(which will have a fan installed shortly!

YEAH! and you guys are living it through me, think How I feel!!! I have to watch these eggs turning, turning, turning and waiting waiting waiting watching for a pip, talk about suspense! But at least we have staggered hatchlings so it kind of breaks up the monotony of waiting so long.

Ok removed the eggs from the turner and WOW what a ton we have! Lookie lookie! Oh and by the way our 3rd bator is warming up to separate some of these so they have room to roll and hatch. (just in case someone was worried!) And some updated courtnix pictures. WOW teach97 (Roy) your little courtnix are vigorous!

It already looks like Easter with all those pretty eggs!
Thanks for the updates. I thought it was a little less stressful than ones own hatch-watching yours..
but, um, no. Even packing them was stressful b/c we wanted the kids to do well with them.
So far so good though and wishing happy hatching vibes in the final countdown!!
