Fiance's uncle's horse.

My fiancé's uncle owns two horses. Tater is a stud and Jazzy is the mare. Well yesterday evening they found Jazzy outside of the pin and down. She still hasn't gotten up. I was wondering if anyone knew what may cause her to do this?
I'm not sure how old the horses are. Jazzy is a great horse to ride and we think that she may be pregnant. HELP!

She tries to get up but when she does it seems like she isn't getting her balance. They have called the Vet but they don't want to spend a lot of money if they just have to put her down.

If a horse has been 'down' for more than an hour, a vet NEEDS to examine her. Depending on what he diagnoses, he will tell you if he thinks she will need to be put down.

That's what I told him. He's one of thoughts people that like to hold on to their money.

Leaving a down horse with out vet care is concidered animal cruelty.....

You might let him know.

I've tried but he's so stubborn. His girlfriend is wanting the Vet out there to look at her so maybe she can talk him into letting the Vet look at her.

It's hard if it isn't your horse but it IS animal cruelty. Failing to provide medical care to a sick or injured animal is illegal in most places. Call Animal Control. If the horse is suffering and he can't afford a vet, they should be able to put the horse down at least. If he's stubborn, let them handle it. He might just need a little education and they deal with stuff live that all the time and know how to get cooperation without you getting put in a bad spot. Please keep us posted?
