Well, she looks normal.

Maybe afro-chickens are just turning against the world now? The smart little tykes could start a rebellion...we better watch out...

Here is another `gender challenged' (I think she's a putative hermaphrodite) `hen'.

Big Red, 4yo, production RSL. She started to develop spurs at one year of age and slowly, but surely, took up crowing with the roo every morning (always one or two counts after the roo - never crows any other time of day). Her comb, wattles and spurs will serve her well if something happens to the roo; though she currently displays no `rooish' behaviors beyond the crowing (has gotten pretty good at that over the past couple years)

She was the first pullet to lay (but only two tiny `cock' eggs). So far as we can tell she's never laid another.

Before today I didn't know that hens could crow... I was woke up early and thought something was messing with my chickens because they were making a racket, I ran outside and saw one of them on top of a fence and let out the most pathetic crow I've ever heard, before running into some bushes... I think I startled her in my haste to find out what the source of the commotion was.

She' just a Tomboy- LOL

But When I was growing up- any hen that crowed was killed immediately!! Older people in my family were superstitious. Never heard any reason except - Hen that crows is really Bad Luck.
