I flap my powerful wings, the golden feathers shimmering against the golden sun. The wind rushing over my feathers, and that’s how I always know I’m free. I’m the symbol of free for crying out loud! You dumb humans worship me, not that im complaining…I turn my head and gaze at Yonil, my mate. I smile as he does a cart wheel, always showing off. That’s how I met him, him showing off. He meets my gaze and lands, saying,
“Hey sweetie, checking out my moves?” he said adding a showy tail flare. I laugh and shove him
“Hey, you already got me! What, showing off to your girlfriend on the side?”
“Nah, Kaeldran don’t like it when I flaunt off my FABOULOUS feathers” He said smugly referring to my hatch mate. I shove him off the branch into the lake. He gets out mopping wet saying something like
“Pushing shoving, that’s what ya always do!” Faking anger. I only hear ‘shoving’, everything else is blurred. And that’s what he sees I see…A human, pointing a gun...straight, at, me…
