fighting roosters - help

OP said specifically: "I can't let them free range because of gripey neighbors and coyotes." So this is absolutely giving neighbors reason to complain (whether because chickens are leaving property, or it goes against zoning), and predators at location are already confirmed. These birds are being locked OUT and do not have the option of a safe enclosure, this is not the same as free ranging.
I get the neighbor complaining but the owners of the chickens let them out. Let them deal with it. Judging because people raise chickens differently than the masses on here is crazy. Predators are everywhere. There’s always a risk. Hell half the time the chickens are killed in the pens where they don’t even have a chance of getting away.
I just kicked 7 birds out of my shed yesterday in the rain. They’ve been totally loose since they were a few days old and slept at night in my shed. Now they’re in the trees with nowhere else for them to go at night. You would consider that inhumane?

I have never had an issue with putting them together in a bachelor pad as long it was done as soon as we know, have never seen anything like you are describing @roosterhavoc , if they haven't been harassing and forcing themselves on pullets it's not usually an issue. I'm sorry if you don't like other peoples opinions , and I can see why your getting defensive here you feel like everyone is ganging up on you because you don't like the answer Others should also remember to be kind even when upset, it is their flock and they have to deal with the issue and make the hard choice there.

There is no need to be nasty to each other on this forum, there is also an ignore option, we should be respectful to each other.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Nobody is ganging up on me? Roosters have a ton of hormones raging. If you do it long enough with a bachelor pad you’ll see it. Regardless that’s not really the point. I’m just saying kicking birds out isn’t inhumane. Sure the OPs set up isn’t ideal but killing a bird over allowing it to live loose isn’t a better option. If only the rooster could answer the question “would you rather have your throat slit tonight or take your chances in the yard?” It’s a pretty safe bet he’d take the yard. :lau

I suggest you try to rehome them or set up a bachelor pad. Kicking an animal out, that hasn't learned to fend for itself, is setting them up for coyote dinner. In the mean time, what happens when they end up roosting on the neighbors porch? I'm guessing they won't be too thrilled.

Put an ad in the local paper, craigslist, facebook etc., and you may find a place for a couple of them. Whether someone eats them or not, doesn't really matter. Your pullets will be far better off. Leaving them with three cockerels can do some real damage.

just to clairify to you, only thing I was saying directly to you is about the batchelor pad, and most know enough that it is only a temporary fix while they decide what they are going to do.

The rest was directed at the people that are being argumentative trying to force their view on others of whats right or wrong. We are all entitled to our opinions but the flock master of his flock aka OP has to decide what works best for him and his flock don't need people screaming at him.

I agree. For some reason it’s popular on here to for a certain few to convince people their way is better. It’s quite comical.
