Maybe the lack of votes is due to the fact that many on BYC understand the strengths of local control and that having people from outside a voting area give their opinion on what should happen in an area is inapprorptiate. I for one would be really offended if someone from a different area came to our community to "vote" on legislation affecting my area.

You must not have had to fight to keep chickens on your farm then. We are doing all we can locally but walking around getting petitions signed with only 3 or 4 dedicated peeps is hard work. This whole forum is dedicated to BACK YARD CHICKENS and we have to use fair means or fowl (pun intended) to get as many votes as we can to change outdated, ignorant ordinances in our favor.
Thankyou so much for your support!

I feel that some government run policies are in place out of sheer ignorance. In this case, I feel that is quite the case. If BYC members have the capacity to see that not all local controls are sensible, and can help a fellow member to raise poultry to sustain their family with "real" food, then I say Vote, Vote, Vote and vote again for good measure. I voted again today.

I wasn't sure if it was appropriate that someone from another country voted.
