FIGURED IT OUT! but now i have another questionn...

ok, i have two silkie chicks. one, Zip, is completly normal. the other one, Corndog (yes i named my chick Corndog), ..not so much. hes about 3 or 4 days old and he cant stand...he moves around by scooting around with his wings. i figured out one toe on each foot is bent down...how do i fix that?

I hate to tell you this but it will not make it if it doesn't stand. I have lost 2 others this way, and decided to cull my most recent.

I say as long as he seems happy, let him live his life to the fullest. As far as the name, mine have stranger names than Corndog. My 14 year old daughter gave all of our chickens names from Japanese Anime and other shows she enjoys. We have: Hana (3 week old EE), Yuki (3 week old BPR), Miku (3 week old BPR), Chowder (1 week old EE), Pannini (1 week old Buff Silkie), Tweak (1 week old White Silkie), Sentrius (1 week old Black Silkie with white wing tips), Jasper (1 week old Blue Silkie), Lucian (1 week old Black Silkie with a red spot on the head), and Luka (1 week old Partridge Silkie).

Okay, you say he is 3 or 4 days old? He can stand, but his feet are curled? If you want to try to save him, you need to try straightening out those feet with shoes. Usually if a chick is hatched with curled feet, you can put shoes on him and in a few days, the toe bones are straightened. Since it's been a few days, it may or may not be very effective, but you should try it. I will try to find a link to a helpful site that talks about chick shoes. if anyone else knows it, maybe they can post it, too.

I read on a post just yesterday to superglue small pieces of cardboard to thier feet for a bought a week. The glue wears off and then the cardboard falls off and the feet are straight.

Chicken shoes can be quite effective if put on within the first couple of days.Im looking now I have taped a few in my day and they worked fine.There are diff methods fron pipe cleaner's the cardboard with tape or even just tape.I used a small V cut out of poster board and had hubby help me flatten the feet and taped it to bottom of foot.Its clumsy for them but it does seem to work.
