Wow are you serious? Whats the point of vaccines then?

Vaccinations are suppose to decrease the death rates because they do not express the symptoms of the disease which is what causes the death. Say like Mareks..... they could still acquire the disease even after being vaccinated but the vaccine should stop them from producing the physical symptoms of the disease.

weird. So if they get the disease, the symptoms dont show up. Its like being bit by a snake with no venom sorta? Now you said reduce death rate, it wont stop it all together? Whats left of the disease if the symptoms are gone?

It's hard for me to explain

If you vaccinate a bird, it can still become infected and shed the microorganisms associated with that disease, spreading it to any newcomers, or other birds like at shows, etc.

You can still have birds die from a disease even though they were vaccinated because sometimes for some reason the vaccine didn't take.

What it means is they can get it and pass it around while looking healthy. It's how Equine Influenza got into Australia.

A vaccinated stallion was brought into the country carrying EI. The virus escaped the quarantine facility. We were able to eradicate it because Australian horses aren't vaccinated for EI. Infected horses showed symptoms and could be isolated. It is actually illegal to vaccinate for EI here because it will hide the symptoms if it managed to escape again and we want to remain an EI free country.

As for reducing the death rate, vaccinations don't work 100% some animals can still get sick and die. In commercial operations each individual doesn't mater, what matters is that the majority of them stay in production. That's why they vaccinate. Eradicating the disease by culling would be financially disastrous for them.

I feel terribly sorry for the OP, it's an awful situation.
