My Coop
My Coop
We finally knocked our old coop down that was about 100 sq foot and built this! Almost 250 sq ft and almost 9 ft tall on the tall wall.
We were just given this material they make giant grain bags with and we lined the whole coop. We have 4 huge windows, concrete slab with river sand litter and raised slab for their feed and water. I had a dust bath but they would not use so I removed it.
2 mounted fans in each corner. Not totally finished now because we have to put the roost back up. We had it so it pulls up so we can clean under it but now that we redid the walls we have to redo it. The tiny door in the corner goes to the part of the coop that is seeded for grass
We are finally to the point where we can let them out there to graze a couple times a week. Basically their outdoor coop us cut in half...part grass...part dirt!

Nice! How many chickens do you have?

What does the outside look like?

Why?
Is the framing of the coop standard 2x4 construction?

I have moved from North Texas to South Louisiana
Are you still in SLA?
Curious as to why a clear roof.

We have 31 ladies right now. Here is the outside. Its not finished out and we have temporary fencing in front intil walk though gates are done to the grass area.
We also poured a walkway because our soil get super slippery and the mud is awful, so this will help.
I chose to line it because its now going to be easier to clean and keep bugs out. Course, the whole coop got lined on the bottom 2' to below the slab with hardware cloth to stop mice and snakes from getting in. I love how it turned out.
Yes, standard 2x4 construction.
Yep, still in South Louisiana. I wanted a roof that was not too.pricey and would last a super long time.
I am not 100% sure i love it. But its hard to judge because our summer was freakishly hot and so was the heat in there due to that or some sun? Its smoke not clear but we will see how it does.
