Finally, eggs! Yesterday morning i awoke to the sound of a very distressed chicken, as i went to investigate i noticed the two of them huddled around each other making small not so much stressed but curious noises i edged closer to them and as they moved out of the way i saw it, an egg! HOORAY!!! I have been waiting for this moment for what feels like a life time. There is one thing that has baffled me about this event, Henny had decided that the best place for her to lay her egg was on the front porch...Is this normal? Im assuming that this will happen every morning when she needs to lay as it happened again this morning..sigh. Is there any way i can change this odd behaviour? Or should i just leave it and be thankful that she has begun after 24 looong weeks?

Put a fake egg (golf ball, plastic easter egg, etc.) in their nest and hope she gets the idea. Since she laid in the morning, you could also keep them in the coop til you see an egg for a few days or a week. They may get the idea on their own, too. It can take about a month for hens to get the general idea of laying eggs.
