finally ! an egg

well after waiting and waiting i finally have my first egg.

the silly hen spent most of yesterday digging around in the nest boxes but no egg. then this morning i go out to check the nest boxes thinking well maybe she layed today and what did i find, nothing in the nest boxes but an egg laying right in the middle of the run! all the chickens walking around it bawking at it like it was some kind of alien. this is my first hen laying so i'm hopeful the others wont be far behind her, and i'm hoping that they figure out the nest boxes are for laying the eggs not in the middle of the run. i have golf balls in them to help but i think this first egg was a surprise to her.

here is a picture of the egg, the hen is an ee from mpc. i hatched her and another hen at the end of november last year.

I swear I am anticipating my first egg like it's the birth of a child! It's ridiculous!! My husband swears I'll probably bronze it.
