Finally broke down and got a permit in Philomath, Oregon

When you apply for the permit, they give you a map and mark the houses within 200 yards of your property that you need to obtain 3/4 of signatures from. You turn it in, the city manager signs it and mails it back to you. It was really very simple. They can still make you get rid of your chickens if someone complains, but I haven't really heard of that happening. I live in the old section of town so no one had a problem with me having them. They actually thought it was pretty cool. In the newer housing developments, I've heard people are more picky.

I haven't had an overflow problem of eggs either, lol. My neighbors bring me empty cartons and I fill them up...still for free since I love my neighbors
