A while back he got the pullets I had in a small chain link dog kennel. First I didnt have it covered or surrounded on the ground with wire. Even though I did, he got them thru the door. ThenI moved the remaining two into a pen with 1/2 inch wire and he couldnt get to them. Now all the hens are in the big house and get locked up every night. I havent seen any attempts to get in so I think he was just nosing around. But this is the first time I got pics of a predator and not my barn cats.

I only got him on camera. Now that I know he's around, I can try to trap him. I year ago, my neighbor got wiped out by a fox. Im sure its the same one. I know I had a WLH come up missing a few weeks back. Sad thing is, Im not sure when she disappeared. I just counted one day and realized I had only three instead of four. Now I am going to try and trap me a fox.

Mowing the lawn yesterday on my tractor in a relatively sizable yard (1.7 acres), I come around the corner about 100 feet from my coop, there is a fox sitting next to the run looking at me!..GRRR! Wish I had a .50 cal mounted on the front of the tractor! LOL..

So he is sitting there 3 feet from my chickens who are in the run and could not care less..(I think they think it was a dog..) So I gave chase at 1 mph in my tractor..(HAHA!) and scared him off....Glad I made my coop and run like Fort Knox.. Hardware cloth from head to toe and buried to about 10 inches...Still he got my attention thats for sure and I am going to have to keep an eye open for any attempted digging!

Yeah, I learned the hard way when I first got chickens. After a hard rain for a couple of days, Im sure it was a fox that dug under my covered coop and took off with one of my BA's. It was the only spot I didnt have wood or something covering the ground on the outside. I made sure after that it would be harder to get in. Now I have a couple of 16 ft cattle panels covered with welded wire and two 4 x 4 x 6 chain link panels making a bigger run area for them but they are locked up every night. Couple of times I think, maybe I wont tonight, but then I think, this would be the night I lose them all if I dont. Sure enough, got a pic proving that might of been the case.
