Finally Chickens!

My 18 year old son granted my longtime wish and got me chickens for my birthday. I used to browse this site before I had chickens and know it will be very helpful to me as I embark on this adventure

I think that's wonderful your son got you such a thoughtful gift! What breed of birds did you get?

Yes, I have been to the learning center and I also prepped by reading The Joy of Keeping Chickens (written by a vet tech at my local animal hospital). Both of my sons and my 5 year old next door neighbor teamed up to convert an old ice shanty into a chicken house. Bonus is it was already insulated and had casement windows and roof vents. They built roosts and nesting boxes. I can't get an answer as to what they are...I think they may be wyandottes but don't have my book at the moment and so hard to tell online when I don't have the chickens in front of me.
