From incubator to garage box now in coop with yard -whew- it’s been quite a learning experience!
Looking forward to getting good practical advice for raising healthy egg layers on this platform.
Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome to BYC! Your pullets are very cute, I'm sure they're loving their newly expanded world- it must be quite an experience for them to go from a brooder box to the wide, open yard. There's lots of good advice here and plenty of knowledgable people available to answer any of your chicken-ly questions!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

Congratulations on getting a good start on the coop and run. Your coop desperately needs ventilation. I would rip off the top 6-8" of siding on the front and back ends and cover it with 1/2" hardware cloth and a trim board along the cut siding to further secure the hardware cloth and dress it up a bit. I would also look for discarded smaller windows for which you can frame openings and install them top hinged and suspend them open with chains. Back them with 1/2" hardware cloth as well.

I would also work to a minimum double the size of the run and get a roof on it. Then add some dry organic litter like dried leaves or wood chips, branches secured to the corners, old wood chairs or stools, stump arrangements, whatever to give it clutter and structure for the chickens to enjoy.

Have fun with your new flock!
