LOL, thanks everyone! When DH decided to let me have the chickens he said the coop would not be an "eye sore" to the neighbors. They are complainy if that is a word!

As far as the paint when I went to Home Depot I really did not have a color scheme in mind yet. We were looking at all the paint at about $25-30 a can. As I walked down the isle I saw Beher (sp?) Barn and Fence Paint. It was $12.95, said it was livestock safe, and came in only barn red and white! It looked pretty enough so I went with it and saved some money as well!

IDK if I am doing a coop page or not. If I have the time maybe tomorrow.

Love the coop and run. Thanks for mentioning the barn and fence paint. When we do get to the coop building I would love barn red and white as it has that nice country feel to it.

How are you going to keep it cool in the summer? I have a garden shed just like that that I wanted to use as a coop, but it gets far to hot inside. If it's 90 outside it is in the 1 teens inside. I stared to use it as a kiln to dry wood....works great for that.

I really do not have a problem here. I keep the doors open and the window open on the other side. Where I live there is almost a breeze every day so they do not get too warm. If it was crazy hot that day I just keep the doors open a little longer until the cool mountain breeze blows through and cools it off. They have been out there for weeks and out there in that crazy heat wave we had and they are all still alive, kickin, and happy!

I suppose I ought to finish the second coop first though, LOL then I can spring THAT one on hubby....

meriah--ditto on that! A soon as the second one is done, and my muscovies have a winter home, oh, and I finish up the new cover for the other ducks and geese . . . I've been gathering great ideas for next spring. lol
