Finally finished building our first coop! (Pic Heavy)

It's great! Really blends nicely into your landscape.

Thanks everybody! You guys are so sweet.

I think we did a good job, too. It's our first time really building anything, and we tried our best!

Annek, I agree that it needs a roost outside. We have one ready, actually, but haven't put it in yet. We're still debating exactly how. We may hang it to go from the front to the back of the run, or we may make kind of a "roost tree", perhaps with a couple different heights. Any input on what you all have found to be best?

Great looking coop. Your chickens look exactly like mine. Are they Australorpths? Good idea on the predator protection on the ground. I use a Guard Goose.

How many chickens do you plan on housing?

Thanks River Lizard

Yes Big Peep, they are Australorps. I like the guard goose idea, too! Sounds funny! Does it work well? And what kind of goose?

We plan on sticking with the three hens for now, and getting up to three more in the future. I don't think we have room for more than 6 at a time, and wanted to make sure they don't all get old and stop laying at once because we don't plan on eating them when they're through!
