Hi all! I’m new to chickens, but have been lurking around for a while, reading and learning. I felt like I should finally introduce myself! :) I’m originally from West Virginia, but now live in Oregon. I have four kids, and we just got 5 chicks. I’ve been wanting some for a long time, but we were finally able to get some! - a barred rock, bantam Cochin, Easter Egger, silver laced Wyandotte, and an unknown “chipmunk chick”. I want to thank you all for sharing your knowledge, and I look forward to learning more, and enjoying life with chickens! :)

Are they free range or in a run? Are you hoping for eggs or meat? Do they have names yet?
They will be in a run for the most part. We’ll let them roam free in the yard while we’re out there. We’re in city limits and don’t have a huge lot. Our hope is for eggs. I’m very excited for that! Their names are Karen, Cleo, Tiffany, Barbara, and Sassy 😁 B92DF992-6E19-4843-B255-606A6E175846.png B634FE13-9B5D-40B0-B64A-158434D090B5.png 3DBB90E9-60C0-4B73-9A5C-9C804FDCC69B.png 772F54E2-1B40-4285-BE7F-12D81C77222F.png
