so i finally found an available pair of royal palms and bronzes. we are most likely going to pick them up today. im a total newbie so what are things i should look for as far as health and quality of the birds? i am told they were hatched last spring to give you all an idea of age. any advice or heads up would be great thanks!

Have a home prepared for them before getting them. Keep them in lockdown for at least 3 weeks. Give them treats at the same time everyday in the same spot, that way when you release them they will remember to come back for treats. I woudl recommend you put the treats in the back of their enclosure. That way when you release them to free range they will go back in enclosure for the treats and be easy to lock down for the night. Enjoy them they are very hardy birds and can take weather a lot better than chickens. No heat lamp or coddling needed. Give them a roost about 3' off the ground and let them sleep under the stars.

Look at their legs and feet for scaly mites. Look at their poop to make sure it's a good color and consistency. Bright eyes, active movements and good eating and drinking will tell the rest of the story.
