Finally got one, My first egg

Southern, yes, she is just one of my many barred rocks. Since the first egg, I have yet to get another... and she is the only one that laid out of 10 of them. Good luck with yours!!!

17 Weeks! WooHoo!! That means I can start looking for eggs soon- my 3 Barred Rocks are 16 Weeks old now. I was figuring another 2-3 weeks at a minimum before they'd start laying.

Congrats on the first egg!

As for the starter- I'd just mix it with layer feed until you run out of it. It can't hurt them, and since you've got others not laying yet, they can and IMO should stay on starter until the first egg. And yes, the oyster shell should be offered free choice.
