As of 2:35 Eastern Standard Time I am all done

until November. Out of 16 shipped eggs I got 15 live chicks. the last one just about didnt make it so I helped. He is alive. I had to help one this morning and it was to late he was in there too long!

In the past 3 weeks I have hatched 43 live Dominique chicks. That gives me a whooping 86% hatch rate on shipped Dominique eggs.

That is fantastic, Egg... We've got one down and 17 to go. A bunch of pips but two that have been pipped for 14 hours aren't doing anything. I can see their beaks at the pip, but they aren't trying to zip. The one that hatched pipped and zipped within 5 hours. I don't want to wait too long and have them die...but I also don't want to do something too early...

That's what I'm scared of. I will be so unsure of when I need to help. Tough call!!

Cool chix....

My first Silver Ameraucana just popped his cute little head out of his egg. I also just helped another chick who'd been sitting on his butt in the egg since yesterday. I pulled him out and peeled the dried membrane off his back. His top half was totally dry; his butt was still stuck in the egg, and I was concerned that he was going to get spraddled from being in such an awkward position for so long. Anyway, I peeled the little egg, popped him back in, and he's doin' fine.

Congrats Oldtimegator!!! I really love seeing pics of them hatching. I have one pip so far on my silkie eggs. I can't tell you how excited I am over that one little pip on the shell. Now I will never be able to stop looking in every five minutes!

The funniest part is that this is an egg I thought wasn't going to do anything. I have not been able to candle and see anything developing the whole time. I figured it was probably scrambled egg in there because it was dark and I never saw any signs it was developing. I figured I would leave it in there anyway and I kept sticking my nose to the vent holes to sniff and make sure it was going rotten on me. Now it's my first pip!
