It’s spring here and most of my hens are laying, so it’s time for a hatch along!
I’m hatching Pekin bantams of a wide variety of colours, mostly for fun, most of the chicks will be given to neighbours or sold but I might keep a few
I’ll be setting around 12 eggs but we’ll see how the hens are laying
adopt an egg and give it an astronomy themed name! Planets, constellations and anything space is accepted!

I currently have five eggs stored for incubation

I will update the list with more eggs and the people who name them, will also post pictures of the parents and hopefully many chicks!

Aww!! They grow so fast! I lost one baby on Saturday, but I've been integrating the now 2 week olds (3 left now) with the 4 week olds. It's going well, and today I moved them into big pen for good. I feel ya on the happy/sad thing!

Thank you. I appreciate it. She was a failure to thrive. I knew honestly from day we got them home. She just wasn't like the other 3. I tried all week, but in the end, it was kinder to euthanize. My husband did it so I didn't have to. It was tough, but I know we did the right thing, and maybe going through this early in my chicken keeping will help me accept it better later.

Losses are unavoidable unfortunately, all you can do is try your best. Each one teaches us something we didn't know before so we're better prepared for the next.
