Finally here! (update, lost one)

They shipped Monday.. just got here.
No DOA's... but they were sort of droopy. Seem to be perking up now.

Hooray, I am glad they arrived safe and sound. I lost a droopy one -- I got her to drink, but only if I held her beak to the water -- she never perked up at all. I'm glad yours are doing nicely.

Lost one.

There was one welsummer that arrived in pretty bad shape, She perked up for a bit after water yesterday... But this morning wasn't looking too good... She had pasty butt, along with a couple others. I cleaned them all up and put them back in the brooder. The others ran off as soon as I put them back in.. She just stood there, and didn't look too steady on her feet.
I dipped her beak in the water again this morning.. I had to go out for a couple hours...
She had passed when I got back.

poor baby.

After being stuck in a box in shipping w/ no food or water for 3 days I can't say I am surprised...I am actually surprised the other 24 seem so vigorous, running, playing, eating and I swear they look bigger already!

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that you lost one. I have a friend who is a vet (she has a lot of chickens). She told me that a loss of 10% is to be expected when they are shipped. So the loss of one is not bad at all. Still doesn't make you feel better, I know. By the way, they are beautiful!!
