My 7 babies are two weeks old now
My chicken's homes, for now. These kennels are all I had when the neighbor abandoned his chickens, I grabbed anything I could to use as boxes for them including the kids playhouse that they never used and slung a 2x4x8 through the windows and the chickens love it. The babies and mama are in the smaller pen. My BF and I are looking at pics of ya'll coops to get an idea of what to build before the cold weather sets in.
BTW, In the front, that's my BF's new "Roo" that he named Cogburn after a John Wayne character, but I recently renamed her Cogburnadette after I saw my Roo mount "him" hahaha!
they free range the rest of the yard. There's 5 acres total, but they mainy stick to the front 1 acre.
sometimes the go into the sunflower field in the back 4 acres, but only when my orphan donkey ain't near.
here's the front yard
Here was a pool of cool water from the condensation the a/c let off, they were digging into the mud and getting filthy, so I put a shallow terra cotta pot in there and some plants and made a chicken spa for them.
they just love it
a week later, and you can see the Elephant Ear plant didn't last long
Here's my girls, left - Calusa and Cheyenne is holding Tank our first born chick
here's my baby boy, Jimmy, holding Tank, he loves the chickens
Jimmy just gave Tank a kiss
and there was a thread in this forum that wanted to know what kind of dogs I have, I have two Great Pyrenees puppies that are 4 months old. The lady I got them from said she didn't know who the father was, I'm thinking a German Shepard
I have an orphan donkey the kids named Emma Daisey. I saved her from a bad neighbor also, she was three days old, and they were just going to let her starve to death. Her mother left her with the cows. I started feeding her and when I moved I took her with me
hard to get her pic though
Here's Cheyenne with the dogs (Bo & Dixie, and Emma Daisey) if I get any closer the Donkey wouldn't be in the shot.
If any didn't like the length of my post, I really am sorry, I like to see other's pics and so I like to share mine too!!!
