The girls are all 7 months old. Some are almost 8. But today, I got the prettiest light brown egg you ever saw. It's filthy because it was laid in the run, but I got it before they decided to eat it! So all's well. They have nest boxes, and have had for almost 3 months now. I am going to put some golf balls in to entice them to use them, hopefully.

Had to share because this is our second flock, but first egg. We had to get rid of our last flock at about 8 months old and had never gotten our first egg!! In a day or two at the new owners they began laying!! This year we got to start over and FINALLY, we got an egg!!

No pic yet but when I post in the First Egg Pics i bet we have the dirtiest one...

My two buff orps are about 22 weeks and I have two new white orps which I'm not sure how old but guessing they are a bit younger (and still don't know if they are roos!!) Will get some pics on and let you all decide!

Thanks everyone!! Roni, my BO's are the 29 weeks old. And I am pretty sure the egg came from the production red, who is eight months old. I don't know what I do to cause it, but it seems like my chicks mature later than other folks on here.

Congrats on the egg! YAY! It seems to me that 8 months is quite a wait. What is their diet? I wonder if that may be part of the delay. What kind of chickens are they .... BO and Production Reds? Mine started to lay by 20 weeks ... Do you think they could be eating the eggs? Just a thought.
