I finally got them in the garden... It is already in weeds but they are helping out. I just finished painting the greenhouse and "Roo Dude" my rooster has green paint on his back.

Nice fall day for it.

Thanks, everyone.

Jill, you are so right: they come running and skidding around the corner to get some bread! That is how I "herd" them. Ha..

ncatnip: That is what grandkids and kids are for

Seriously, the garden is new this fall. The t-posts are 8 feet tall, sunk in about 1.5 feet. The wooden posts are 10 ft. tall sunk about the same. I still have to stretch wire around the wooden posts. Deer eat everything around here... but not my new garden...

You use a metal thingie that slips over the metal post and pound it in.

Ellie, what a lovely place you have! What a treat for your chickens! I would say that is pretty close to chicken heaven. I got tickled at the BO who is booking along behind the others! I see that all the time with my girls!

If you are going to pound in t posts, it helps to stand on a ladder.

Wow! I thought that greenhouse was your coop! Karen

When we lived on LINY, we had a major deer problem. I remember having 80 rosebushes, and my parents were on their way from Florida, and I was so proud, and the night before they got there, the deer ate all the roses! I cried. In the winter, they used to eat the yews around the house, and poop all over the sidewalk. That's when I put up electric fence. I call deer large rats.
