Correct me if I am wrong anyone, but I was thinking it was a pacemaker.... pretty sure I am right, they shock your heart if it isn't pumping correctly to try to correct the heart beat. They can be painful and a pain in the tush!
It's actually very similar to a pacemaker. It's and ICD .. Internal Cardiac Defibrillator. It's implanted the same way, with electrodes attached to the heart. It can function as a pacemaker also, but the primary function of one is to jump start a heart that has stopped beating, or hesitates (a reeeeally long hesitation). This is also the reason that they cost upwards around 4 times as much as a pacemaker.
Thank Yall for all the prayers!!!! I just got back and I go back into the hospital on the 22nd for 48 hours for some new medication that according to the FDA I have to be completely monitered.
But I have an internal pacemaker and defibrillator. This is my 4th one in 9 yrs. Long story but I had two massive heart attacks 9 yrs ago. And I only have 1/3 of a functioning heart, the rest is dead tissue. I am not a candidate for a bypass since there is nothing to bypass to. I am "suppose" to be on a heart transplant list but I still refuse. GOD gave me a great heart and it is still ticking like a Timex..LOL But the Doc said my heart is angry right now and it keeps killing me!!!! Thanks Doc for that little tid bit of info I did not need to hear. So BockBock send me my name early too if you can.
Thanks again Yall.
