Hello,
I have been reading this website for over a year, since our neighbour gave us 7 hens. They free range, wandering our property but always going back to the coop at night to be safely locked away. We just incubated a dozen eggs for the first time and had 9 hatch, but unfortunately two hatched very weak and did not survive the first night. Our seven babies are doing really well! We have a 98 acre farm but rent the land out for crops...slowly we are starting a hobby farm in order to provide our children with rich experiences to grow up with.
