Hello! I'm a novice from Illinois. We have our first flock of Rhode Island Reds (10), Orphingtons(9), Pekins(18) & Guineas(5). I love my chickens to no end, and I'm slowly learning to love the ducks. They are way more flighty than I knew, but the hubs loves them. My guineas have been here for a whole week, my father-in-law has had them for years & decided to buy some for me at the local 4-H fair. I fell in love with those archaic looking birds the first time I saw them 5 years ago. I've been using this site for help since before we got our chicks in early February. I've gotten tons of great info and I'm more grateful everyday that I stumbled across such a great forum.

Welcome to BYC, we're glad you found us. BYC has threads for ducks, geese, guineas, etc in the "Other Backyard Poultry" forum. The Learning Center contains a wealth of information as well.

So glad you could join our community! Make yourself at home here and welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. You have some good, hardy, dependable breeds in your flock. I love the calm, gentle temperament of the Buff Orpingtons, and for that reason, keep some in my flock. I don't know much about Guineas or Ducks (although I've have a few ducks), but I have to admit that ducklings are the ultimate in cute. If you have any questions about either of these birds, our members in our Guinea and Duck sections at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/45/guinea-fowl and https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks should be able to answer your questions. Good luck with your flock.
