Well, at least one is laying again. Got a nice size blue egg this morning. Almost gave up my hopes to ever see one again. For at least the last 2 month they were freeloaders and no egg in sight. I was even playing with the thought to cull them next fall and rather fill my coop with chickens that lay in winter like my BR and BA. But now that I saw this beautiful egg this morning I think they can hang around a little bit longer :-)

Mine took a 2 month break too. She's back at it for the last week or so. Yeeaaahhhh! In fact I was just thinking the same thing, more winter layers...I've had to buy eggs! I hear the EE's are known for taking breaks? I'm glad I didnt know that before, because I wouldn't have gotten her, but her egg is so pretty. I kind of want another...

I think that's wy they call them Easter Eggers - they dont lay until Easter!

Agreed!

My two little EE ladies took the whole winter off, from late November until just last week. I still think only one of them is actually back to laying.

If they weren't two of my favorites, I would definitely consider replacing them.

Then again, I love my blue eggs and Ameraucana's aren't particularly known for winter laying either. So if I want blues, I guess I'm going to have to hold on to them.
