Finally... Please help!!!!

UGGHHHHH!!! Nothing yet from the Post Office. I guess they'll come to tomorrow morning. The only thing is that I have to work tomorrow. I hope they'll come early enough that I can see them and make sure they are all healthy and happy before I have to be at work.

Ok, so they came yesterday morning. They all arrived safe and sound. 25 that I ordered plus the one free exotic chick AND one free FEMALE Blue Andalusian!! Can you believe it???? So I got them all set up in their box, with their food and water, no pasty butts, everyone was safe and happy. Then today I had to be at work for 13 hours, and my cousin got in a terrible car accident. We weren't sure if she was going to even survive it, let alone be ok. Praise God she did and is 100% ok. But while I was at work, my mom and DH were looking after the babies and well, we lost one of my sumatras. I think it was a pasty butt casualty. They had cleaned it up but I don't think they caught it in time. They called me when it was sick and I told them to try to make it poop, feed it some hard boiled egg, and try to make it drink, but alas, I got the terrible call that she didn't make it. She was burried beside my sweet dalmation, Champ, and my ferret Willy. Here are some pictures I took from my phone. I have some on a nice camera but I let my cousin's husband borrow it to take pictures of their cars after the accident. Let me know what you think. oh and what kind of bird is or can be chipmunk stripped with 5 toes and no feathers on its feet?

So I lost another one last night, a black tailed white japanese bantam.

We decided to name the sumatra that died, uno and this one, dos. I think that the bantam was just sickly and had a tough trip here. "She" never was very perky and last night she wouldn't wake up and she was getting trampled so I separated her from the flock and she didn't even care, she never woke up.

But everyone else is doing great. We had one thats bum was getting bitten to the point where it was bleeding, but a few hours alone to heal was all it needed, now its fine and no one is pecking her. And my cousin is already home for anyone who was concerned.

Well, no one seems to be reading this anymore but I still need to vent. I had another chick die today. A white silkie. I discovered that my babies hatched on may 28th and they didn't get here until the 1st of june. Could that be it? Because the ones that have died have been the smallest. Could they have been so starved that once they had access to food, it was too late? Someone please help me understand...

I know that they are usually okay for a day or two after being hatched due to the yoke and all, but I have never had babies shipped always just picked them up at the farm store, I hope someone who has more experience can answer your questions so glad to hear that your cousin was okay after the accident. you could post a new thread under emergency/sick section that might get someone to notice this since this thread is a few months old just a thought hope things get better for you and your new babies.

Well all of the rest seem fine now. I would just like to know why it happened. You know? I mean there's nothing I can do for the three that are gone now. THanks for reading and replying.

Hi there excited! Hopefully the others are all good and healthy, and you dont have any more die on you...My wife and I live in Charlotte, and are expecting our first 8 chicks the week of July 26th! Going to start building the coop this weekend (if it doesn't rain), but we are sooooo excited!! This is the first time for us too. Anyhow, best of luck, I will be following this thread to see how the rest do. Look forward to seeing more pics of the chicks! One question for you, where are you getting your food from in the area? Thanks again.

Hi. We got our food from southern states, in statesville. There is also a Tractor Supply in statesville and one in Denver. I know those aren't exactly close to you but they're the only places I know of. There might be a Tractor Supply in charlotte or closer to you than all the way in statesville.
