Finally starting my coop building - going up FAST!

I'm sure the girls will be happy

The plan is to stain the outside with the same carbolineum that we will be using on the horse fence. It's a dark brown, almost black. I'd like to do something lighter on the inside. What kind of paint do y'all use? gloss? matte? anything you can get?

It's been a while since I was able to take pictures, but here's where we are now. The coop itself is finished. The outside is stained with carbolineum. All the windows are covered in hardware cloth and they open from inside. I painted the inside a pale green, then let my nephew loose with my growing colleciton of colored sharpies. Made for some cheery decoration! Even my mom got in the swing with her "Eat More Beef!" slogan.

The run is covered with corrugated plastic at one end and chicken wire on the other. The bottom two feet are hardware cloth. We hope to finish it tomorrow and will open up that pop door and see how long it takes my chicks to get brave enough to come out.

So, on to the pictures:

My nephew showing where the pop door is. He likes that he can fit through. (for now, anyway

Wall by the pop door - you can see the cover over that part of the run through the window

Back corner, to show the windows. Roosts are under the window on the right and the food/water is under the window on the left.
