After much waiting, planning, and lots and lots of BYC reading, I am now officially a first time egg making chicken grower! It took a littler longer than I originally planned but decided to head to the local IFA and start getting supplies to make sure the brooder was ready whenever I would be. It worked out that the day I was there I didnt see the breeds I wanted, and upon asking, found out they would be in two days later. Perfect. Get home and get the brooder ready and start finishing up the coop construction. The days passed and now, I have some cute little baby chickens! Getting through the legal jargen has felt like a complete joke, but that too is finally being taken care of, and I am looking forward to just focusing on bringing up my chicks, and enjoying the work so far. Thanks to all of the articles, input, vast mecca of information and everybody who contributed to them. It has been nice to have a solid resource to get ideas and information. I dont chime in much, but I will make some time to post up pictures of the coop when it is all finished and
in place.
4- Buff Orpingtons, and 2-Barred Rocks at the moment. They will have Black Australorps in Friday and I will be going to get a few of those as well.
