I'm on day 10 of my first batch and will candle tonight - did not know what I was doing the first time but have looked at lots of pics so finger crossed I see something!!

Came home after work yesterday, look who came early!!

Then about 3am, heard loud PEEP PEEP PEEP!

and another early bird!

so after they got good and dry, I dropped them in the brooder. They were thirsty!

are you going to put marbles in that water container? you have to be really careful. I had a chick drown in a shallow waterer, the kind with upside down mason jar, I always use marbles or rocks.

Congrats 60 acres ...so00 happy for you.
My pathetically abused eggs were put in hatch mode this morning. All systems check -- for once!
I did not use a carton...but I could...
most of the eggs are banty size. I have a depression in my hardware cloth -- sags a bit in the middle.
I have the little eggs in the center surrounded by turkey eggs holding them in place together.
Should I put them in a carton instead?
