Finally there's siding on coop! *PICTURES of house & coop* What color?

My parents are stopping me. I am trying to find out if I can even own them where I live, and if I can, I still have to get my parents to let me. I live in Marlton, NJ

I responded to your "how to convince your parents" thread...

I posted a bunch of links to laws in your area on your "how to convince" thread too, Legally it looks fairly good, depending on your lot size etc... only fairly good though, not a sure thing legally. A lot depends on if your neighbors are grouchy or not!!

Oh my gosh, that coop is cute. Your Dad did a nice job.

Something to consider is that it's going to take a MINIMUM of 3 coats to get a good solid paint job. Prime well, maybe even tint the primer. I painted my living room barn red, years ago, with a high end (read: EXPENSIVE) paint and it took 7 coats. I about cried....

And it will be a little more complicated to paint your chickens over the red base.

I personally would go with the red (and bright white trim), because I'm a sucker for punishment, but go into it with full disclosure...

It'll look rustic...

The human house is super-nice! It looks like you guys are in the process of a big remodel. It will look fabulous when it's all done, for sure!

For the chicken house, I think it would look great to match the shutters of the human house with a deep red, but I do like the green, too -- very natural.

Why not paint "swatches" of each color on the side of the coop and just decide which you like best before buying the big cans full? Most home renovation stores will sell small sample sizes of colors for testing.

Going with your dad's choice would be a great thank-you for his effort. Besides, one day you will leave, and he will still have the coop in his yard.
