I've got so much studying to do, and can't get focused!

Even Ritalin (prescribed) isn't helping me.

Anybody else a college student? What tricks do you use when studying for final exams? I just can't wait for this week to be over.

My daughter says tssst...(she's a big help isn't she) yes she has finals also. She said the other day "tornadoes, I don't have time for tornadoes, don't they know its finals week"

Haha, yeah. Last night we had one around our house. Actual tornado missed us, but the wind from it managed to bring down limbs, break stuff, and move a lot of the things we had outside.

ooohhhh nasty nasty weather. Rest, then a good hard study, rest when you are tired, that might help you stay focused. Don't try to cram or do an all nighter, they don't work. Your brain won't retain anything. Good luck and keep safe. Let us know how you did on your finals. What are you studying?

Here here.. Im in the midst of it too and just want it to all be over. Good luck! I have no advice because I was up til 3 am last night studying. It will be over soon!

Don't stay up all night!

That is an absolute! Cramming and not getting any sleep is worse than barely studying and being rested.

Just think about how much we teachers hate finals week even more than you do. You cram like crazy and go in and do a data dump as best you can - then we have a week or more of nothing but grading and grade analysis. Its intensely boring. The there is the endless reports and forms and student issues and and and and ...........

Blah I would rather take finals!!

Study in set sessions of about an hour at a time. Break up your subjects if you can. Study math for an hour go take a break, walk, snack, and then another hour of chemistry or whatever. Take a break then get to math again. Good luck!

I know what you mean, finals are next week at my college. This is only my second semester teaching here and I'm still not used to it. I honestly think it was better last semester when I was still in school myself lol. But yes, study an our at a time on one subject then take breaks. And good luck.

I have finals next week, too. Just try and allow yourself short breaks, get up, step outside, stretch, etc. In fact, I think after I take mom to the doc, I might take my books outside and study, the weather is really nice for a change.

Study? ha ha hah ahaha.... But no, when I do I get a friend to help. We make it into a game, and ask each other randomly. Jumping out of the showers, out of the closet, passing in the halls, etc...

Haha.. Funny.. I study when I can.. with 5 kids and I work 30 hours a week sometimes the only time to do anything is late at night.. its all I can do. Usually my "studying" only requires finishing up the review sheets (2 math classes) and making sure I understand the concept. I wish I had the luxury of just taking a break here and there but a lot of the times I just do what I can..
