Finches?

I am getting some Finches for my birthday. I need some help on how to keep them?

Wow, your so lucky! I have always wanted finches but never have. I have a big flight cage I got real cheap and thought it would be great to have a bunch of finches in it. DH said finches or chickens. I got chickens. Have fun with yours!

The lady gouldians are gorgeous! Finches have the most soothing songs and I watched a documentary the other night on finches and they slowed down a zebra finches song and it sounded just like classical music! I was amazed at the songs that birds chirps have in them when slowed down a bit. They even had a bird that his song sounded exactly like a piece from Mozart!

Finches are pretty easy to care for. I don't have any more but I am sure there are people on here that are raising them now - GOOD LUCK !

I have four finches and they are so sweet. You can't really mess with them as much as you can keets and other bigger ones, but they are such happy little creatures. I have a big cage I got for a steal from a friend, and then found another big square one yesterday at a sale for $5 in great shape. Mine was 3 months old when I got them, and started laying eggs immediantely. No hatch on the first batch, I don't think they knew what they were doing. So, took them out after a month and there were 5 more, so they are setting on them pretty good now. All four of them set, so need to get anothr nest in there. We are sort of limited on pet stores where I live (very rural) and even PetsMart and Petco didn't have the kind of nests I wanted, but if you go to: thatpetplace.com or for fish lovers: thatfishplace.com you can order a catalog, and they have really good stuff and prices. Shipping is a little steep, so I try to order enough for several months. Good luck with them!!!! I have a black cheek, not sure what that is, but these were on sale for $5 from an actual aviary in Mascoutah, Il. (I think its oasisaviary.com, and they have lay-a-way and ship birds all over the world) and she told me that she threw in a black cheek and acted like it was really something . . .he seems to be a very concerned parent, so we shall see.
