Find Me Where The Wild Things Are

Just coming to this thread because I added some new pullets to my flock.... The guy had a bunch of different breeds very well kept and also growing what I suspect to be red rangers for meat. He told me how they are very slow growing but it prefers them to Cornish cross every once in awhile. As I was picking out the ones I wanted for eggs he was exclaiming he keeps some red rangers for eggs so that got me curious.... They're about 14 weeks old and I picked a red ranger that was more slim built, I'm going to keep her as an egg layer see how it goes. Has anybody done that before? Or at least purposely.????? On a side note when I go buy chickens, I realize how much mine are spoiled compared to how other people keep them LOL. I'm always worried about them not having enough food or whatever even my leghorns are plump. 😂
