I realize the photo angle is a little wonky, it is perfectly level and square in reality! Darn you, camera phone! If you notice the chicken door cut in the side, that is now has a door and a fold out ramp. The windows are normal slide up ones, and the exterior window trimming is also holding down hardware cloth, since window screen is not protective at all. Vents part of the gambrel roofing, which you can kinda see. Also protected with hardware cloth. The whole thing is insulated with r-19, with spray foam to fill in the gaps. I would have taken an interior picture, but it was too dim to get anything clear. Lets just say the chickens have their own set of stairs to reach the roost

Very glad to have finished my first chicken coop! I had help, my housemates made good laborers who helped on the project in exchange for food. It isn't in its final location, yet! Now for the chickens....well, they are kinda on their way in the form of hatching eggs!

Thanks!

I can't wait for it to finally be put in place (this weekend!) and for chickens to move in! It'll be a while for the chickies, though, a whole 21 days of incubation plus grow time. Too long a wait for someone impatient like me!

Are you wanting to use the stuff that comes in the cans?

I thought it was absolutely great for filling in edges and stuff. I actually got it for 'free'. It was on rebate at menards for 3$ off each can, and it cost 3$ a can. Only paid tax, and used the rebate to get some other supplies when it came in. So, I got 12 cans (the limit), and I still have six of them leftover. I went a bit foam crazy because of that, using it in place of caulk because hey, it was a good deal.

I definitely wanted the coop done before iddy's. I would hate for them to be homeless and living in the garage O_O
