Hello! My flock has recently finished a 7-day course of Corid (1 1/2 tsp/gal) and I've since put vitamins in their water for a couple days. I'm wondering what to do next as my chicks' droppings still don't seem completely normal. Every poop appears to contain intestinal lining and only one chick has watery diarrhea that I can tell. They are otherwise acting fine and look good. Is it normal for young chicks to have intestinal lining (it looks like small streaks of pinkish stringy goo) in every dropping? Should I treat them with something else (dewormer?) or just wait? I would rather not keep medicating them if I don't have to (lots going on here - the older hens are on antibiotics for MG at the moment 😣). TIA

Do you have photos of the poop?

How old are they?

Some folks give a follow up dosing of Corid at a rate of 1/3tsp Corid Powder or 1/2tsp Liquid Corid to each gallon of water for another 5-7 days.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with so much. What antibiotic are you using to treat the older hens with?
I haven't been able to get photos of the poop (I am usually out there at night), but I can try to get some later. The chicks are 7 weeks old.

To be honest, I really didn't want to keep going with the Corid. Isn't it too late to start again since I've already given them vitamins? But now I'm wondering if it wasn't coccidiosis at all since what I thought was blood was likely intestinal lining instead.

I'm treating the hens with LA-200 (0.2cc per pound, two doses two days apart).

Some give a break with the Corid and give vitamins for a week or so, then give the follow up.

If you don't want to go with Corid and still want to treat for Coccidiosis you can use Toltrazuril (Endocox).

Sometimes you will see some stringy coral urates or intestinal shedding, but if it's consistent, then you'll want to treat for Coccidiosis. At 7 weeks old, it's possible worms may be an issue.

Okay, thanks, I haven't heard of that particular coccidiostat. What is the dosage for chickens?

One reason I didn't want to keeping giving the Corid is because my ducks have to go without a pool for the duration of the treatment. They didn't like that and got quite dirty.

Finally got some. Seems it's only Galena with the diarrhea. Could I separate them from the older chickens and ducks and only treat the chicks with the smaller dose of Corid?

This one from Lorraine looked pretty normal.

Inside the same poop as above.
