Finished our coop!

Hey everyone! We just finished our oiop last night. The girls spent their first night in it and seemed to do alright. I have a question on our nesting boxes. I feel like we need a different latch system, it seems like a racoon could easily open if they wanted, too. We don't have a lot of raccoons honestly being in a neighborhood. But, would love suggestions for a better latch. Pics of our coop and enclosed run.

You can get those hooks with a spring on them that will keep it secure from those rascal raccoons. You might not see them much now but I'm sure they'll be stopping by with the new aroma of chickens.

Tbh you likely have more raccoons than you realize. They thrive in neighborhoods where they can steal cat food off a back porch and pillage a dumpster. Also they will act out of character greatly expanding the areas they search for food when winter comes. Foxes as well. Almost every fox I have ever seen except 2 were in residential neighborhoods.

Yes, we have foxes and we have a seen a racoon or two. But nowhere near as often as the fox. We also have wild rabbits that are usually all over the neighborhood too.
