JoieD, I'm sorry that it took me such a long time to get back to you, we had a very busy week-end:)
My husband is the builder so I'll answer the best that I can. We just used hinges that were recessed into the frame of the window and the coop frame, he really wasn't keen on doing it that way but they kept binding the other ways that we tried, we then attached the green trim.
The roof over the run is Tuftex from Lowes and it emits 35% light. We went with that one because our run/cop faces east and we were tring to take advantage of the morning sun to help with laying eggs in the winter, this way maybe we won't have to supplement any lighting.

Thank You mtnhens4, I think that is exactly what I am going to do. I love the way it looks!

You will not regret having a run that you can stand up in. We just finished ours and I can now walk in and feed and clean with no problems. We had a 4 foot one and I hated it. Your set up looks great. I know you said 8 chickens, just a warning, they are so much fun and I find myself now with 26, I started with 6!!!! LOL I just love them, they are so much fun and I never dreamed it would be so.
