Help! My baby chick ate a fire ant yesterday and is really sick this morning. She can barely move. I read that you shouldn't give them water but she will die of dehydration if I don't. Is there any hope for her? Right now I am keeping her warm and eye dropping water into her beak every few hours. It has almost been 24 hours since she ate it.

Not sure why eating a fire ant would hurt the chick aside from maybe impacting crop if no grit to break it up... I mean chickens eat any and all bugs they can catch, including ants... Has the chick had access to grit?

The ant might not have been digested fully and then bit her from the inside

. We don't have fire ants where I live though so I can't help as much as I want to. Sorry, I hope your chick is ok in the end
