My dad thinks that this is a fire hazard.

So my question to you is, is it really a fire hazard? The sooner I get feed back the better.

Also as a side note, I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this. If it is not, then can you please tell me which one is the correct one.

Would need at least 2 more pics at different angles / directions to know the real fire hazard - what is the light on / clamped to - how close is the light to other items / wall ?

We have a similar setup and the plastic got too hot, and the wall it was sitting next to got too hot - had to create something else for the lamp to clamp to to eliminate these 2 issues.

That set up won't hold very many chicks. What about making a chicken brooder out of cardboard boxes. Last chicks I got I used several boxes and taped together a rather good size brooder, worked great and then it went out to the garden to compost.

I don't know why my previous post didn't go through. So here it is again. I think the only thing you really need to be worried about is the plastic melting and getting on your chicks. The ignition tempature for rubber ranges from 260°-316°. So I don't really see a heat lamp getting that hot. IMHO
