As a new egg, I have 5 barred rocks 6 months old, and 5 java chicks still inside. I am very worried because two of my rock roosters have Marek's. One started with the symptoms while still a chick, and the sussex rooster just showed up paralyzed this morning. I have them in the "hospital" right now and I am starting treatment with the hypercium tonight as well as the colostrum to boost immunity. I am also going to give my other birds a daily dose of colostrum to hopefully boost their immune system to the point where they won't come down with it. My question is this. Can anyone direct me to a web site that gives a list of the medications that I should keep on hand for emergencies and how to use them properly. I have joined several helpful web sites and I own some very good poultry books but I haven't seen that info anywhere. I don't know all the teminology and such so I am lost. Also, any advice on what to have on hand for first aid kit? I am also concerned about giving them a varied diet. I have them on a very good feed right now but I am afraid they may be lacking. I tried giving some fresh spinach, parsley, but they weren't interested in it at all. Can someone give me some ideas on specific foods that would benefit my birds, again I haven't seen much info on these subjects. I am guessing a lot of that wisdom comes from experience, which I do not have to fall back on. I just want to do everything I can to keep my birds happy and healthy. I can only let them out to free range when I am outside with them because of a dog next door that is in my yard a lot and would happily kill them. I have seen this dog snatch my song birds out of mid air. We have no leash law in my town. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
