As a new egg, I have 5 barred rocks 6 months old, and 5 java chicks still inside. I am very worried because two of my rock roosters have Marek's. One started with the symptoms while still a chick, and the sussex rooster just showed up paralyzed this morning. I have them in the "hospital" right now and I am starting treatment with the hypercium tonight as well as the colostrum to boost immunity. I am also going to give my other birds a daily dose of colostrum to hopefully boost their immune system to the point where they won't come down with it. My question is this. Can anyone direct me to a web site that gives a list of the medications that I should keep on hand for emergencies and how to use them properly. I have joined several helpful web sites and I own some very good poultry books but I haven't seen that info anywhere. I don't know all the teminology and such so I am lost. Also, any advice on what to have on hand for first aid kit? I am also concerned about giving them a varied diet. I have them on a very good feed right now but I am afraid they may be lacking. I tried giving some fresh spinach, parsley, but they weren't interested in it at all. Can someone give me some ideas on specific foods that would benefit my birds, again I haven't seen much info on these subjects. I am guessing a lot of that wisdom comes from experience, which I do not have to fall back on. I just want to do everything I can to keep my birds happy and healthy. I can only let them out to free range when I am outside with them because of a dog next door that is in my yard a lot and would happily kill them. I have seen this dog snatch my song birds out of mid air. We have no leash law in my town. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thank you so much for the links, they are very helpful. So far my two roosters who have Marek's are holding their own. My barred rock roo has been dealing with this since he was quite young. I didn't even know what it was until I was talking to a breeder at our local farmers co op. Of course I was told to "dispatch" him but after using homeopathic remedies successfully for two dogs, one who was paralyzed and one who had a cancerous tumor, I have decided to give it a try. I am also using colostrum every day to boost their immunity to fight the disease. We noticed that within a week, my 6month old roo was pushing himself up on his legs which is a good sign considering he was just lying down all the time. Now we have added the hypercilium twice a day for him and my sussex roo who just came up paralyzed two days ago. Both are in our basement "hospital" for now. I am concerned about the sussex because he doesn't seem to want to eat. Any suggestions as to what I can offer both of them to boost their nutrition and get him to eat? My barred rock roo eats and drinks well, but not the sussex. I am also treating my other birds with colostrum every day, hopefully to help them fight off the virus so that they won't get it. Today I cleaned and disinfected all the pens and coops. I am doing every thing I can to save these guys and prevent the others from getting it. The saga continues.
